SP3 Matching Campaign Completed!

 In Uncategorized

The epitome of true friendship can be summed up in two words – Praise Cathedral!

Eighteen years ago, this megachurch pastored by Jerry Madden came alongside Samaritans Place Founders Marc and Marilen Morris in their vision to build a hope and a future for Philippine orphans and to care for hurting people.

“Praise Cathedral, located in Greer, SC, has walked every step of the journey with us,” states Marc. “ The willingness to significantly invest in Samaritans Place, as well as being consistently committed, has been a bedrock from the beginning for the excellent care SP provides orphan kids.”

In September 2013, Praise Cathedral generously offered to give a grant – matching dollar for dollar – to build up a budding endowment and to acquire some additional property. This grant became known as the SP3 campaign in reference to the three year goal of the campaign for Samaritans Place.

An annual amount of $ 125K was raised and matched, bringing the total SP3 campaign match to $375,000.00.

As part of the completion of the SP3 campaign, a reunion of adoptees and their families was hosted by Praise Cathedral, under the direction of missions pastor Mark Hill. It was an incredible time of re-bonding and fellowship as the adoptees reunited with each other, while adoptive parents shared about their adoption experiences.

” The modern sports and recreation facilities, as well as expertise in hosting groups made Praise Cathedral the ideal place for the reunion,” commented Marilen Morris. ” It was very special to also be treated to a home cooked Filipino meal by the Espinosa family, members of Praise.”

During the 2016 Reunion of SP Adoptees, a special check presentation took place in the Sunday morning worship service as Pastor Madden turned over the third year grant check of $ 125K to SP Founders Marc and Marilen Morris.

As a token of appreciation to the church, the Morris’ also presented a customized pencil portrait of the Madden’s grandchildren

We want to thank everyone who has participated and helped FSP complete this milestone of support for Samaritans Place. The SP3 campaign has tremendously helped to ensure more quality care and services can be provided.
